    Basic remedies and maintenance.

What to check if your showerhead won't resume normal flow for showering.

    1. Try pulling the cord.

The water may have already been warm or someone may have recently taken a shower. Either of these events may have placed the ShowerStart TSV in trickle mode. If this has happened:
    1. Turn the shower on - the water should be trickling out of the showerhead.
    2. Pull the cord to resume normal flow.

    2. A washer may be blocking the water's flow.

clear valve - no blockageSometimes a rubber washer from your previous showerhead may have accidentally remained attached to your shower pipe during installation of your ShowerStart TSV or evolve showerhead. Its presence will prevent water from flowing to your showerhead.

    1. Remove your evolve showerhead or ShowerStart TSV and check the valve by inspecting the end that connects to the shower pipe.
    2. If the valve is clear you will see a set of circular holes creating a flower pattern around a copper stem (pictured right).
    3. If the valve is blocked, remove the obstruction and reinstall your ShowerStart TSV or evolve showerhead.

    3. Your static water pressure may be below 30 psi.

Low pressures are common in large buildings with many floors or if your water supply comes from a private well. The ShowerStart TSV requires static water pressures of at least 30 psi to function properly. If you suspect this is causing your issue please contact Evolve Technologies for further assistance. We have a specialized version of the ShowerStart TSV for low-pressure environments.

    4. Cleaning your showerhead.

In general cleaning, the ShowerStart TSV or the ShowerStart TSV portion of your showerhead is not recommended, as the solvents designed to remove mineral build-up can damage the internal seals necessary for proper valve function. Therefore, we only recommend cleaning the showerhead portion of the product. The showerhead's spray nozzles can be cleaned in two separate ways. The first way is to simply rub the nozzles clean while you're showering. This is accomplished by running your thumb or finger over the nozzles a few times while the shower is running. This loosens and ejects mineral deposits within the nozzles that may be interfering with the showerhead's performance.

The second way involves using vinegar to dissolve mineral deposits trapped within the spray nozzles. This is easy to do and can even be accomplished without removing the showerhead from the shower arm. All you need is a small plastic bag, a rubber band, and white vinegar.
    1. Slip a rubber band over the top of the showerhead. You may want to loop it around the shower arm once or twice so the plastic bag stays in place.
    2. Fill a small plastic bag with white vinegar (sandwich bags often work well). Attach the bag to the showerhead by slipping the top of it underneath the rubber band.
    3. Make sure the spray nozzles are completely submerged in the white vinegar. Wait approximately one hour, then remove the bag and turn on the water to flush the showerhead.
    4. Once this is complete you can polish the showerhead with a soft cloth to make it shine like new.
